Rental terms

Last updated:

These terms explain how booking and renting a car from Safe Rentals Cars works. They bring together the rental conditions shown on each car’s page and in our FAQ.

When you collect the car, you sign a rental agreement with us that sets out the details of your rental. Where the agreement differs from these terms, the agreement applies.

1. Booking requests and confirmation

You can ask for a car on its page on this website, or get in touch with us directly (see Contact). You do not need an account.

A booking sent on this website is a request, not a confirmed rental: it is saved as pending and nothing is paid. We check that the car is free and contact you by phone or WhatsApp to confirm it. Your rental is agreed only once we have confirmed it to you.

The availability shown on the website is up to date when you look at it, but someone else may book the car before we confirm your request. In that case we cannot confirm it.

2. Prices and payment

Prices are per day and in euros. The daily rate can be lower for longer rentals, and some cars have a minimum rental length; both are shown on the car’s page. The total shown on the website is for the dates and the pick-up point you choose, and includes that point’s one-off fee where it has one.

Every price includes:

  • basic insurance cover;
  • unlimited mileage;
  • VAT;
  • 24/7 roadside assistance.

Not included in the prices or in the website’s totals:

Nothing is paid through this website.

You pay for the rental when you collect the car, in cash or by card.

3. Changing or cancelling

Nothing is paid in advance. You can change or cancel your request at no cost until 12 hours before pick-up.

To change or cancel, just let us know (see Contact).

If, exceptionally, we cannot provide the car you booked, we offer you another car, if you agree to it. Otherwise your booking is cancelled by mutual agreement.

4. Driver and documents

The driver needs a valid driving licence.

The driver must be at least 18 years old.

When you collect the car, please bring:

  • your valid driving licence;
  • your passport or ID card;
  • a credit or debit card in your own name.

We take a copy of your driving licence for the rental agreement (see our privacy policy).

5. Security deposit

When you collect the car, you leave a security deposit.

It is held on a credit or debit card in your name. If you have no card, you can leave the deposit in cash.

It is refunded when you return the car, depending on the car’s condition.

6. Insurance, excess and SCDW

Basic insurance cover is included in every price.

If the car is damaged, an excess applies.

You can lower the excess with the optional SCDW, for a daily fee.

We tell you both amounts for your car when we confirm your booking.

Insurance and roadside assistance apply only in the country of rental.

7. Using the car

Driving abroad

The car may not be taken outside the country of rental (Albania).

Fuel

We use a like-for-like fuel policy: you return the car with the same fuel level it had when you collected it. We cannot promise in advance that the tank will be full.

Mileage

There is no limit on the kilometres you drive.

Choosing a car

Please check the seats and specifications on the car’s page before you book. We cannot be held responsible if the car you choose turns out to be too small for your passengers or luggage.

8. Pick-up and return

You collect the car at the pick-up point you chose. Some pick-up points carry a one-off fee, shown with the pick-up point: it is charged once per rental and is included in the website’s totals once you choose that point.

Returning the car somewhere other than your pick-up point can be arranged with us.

9. Accidents and damage

If you have an accident, or the car is damaged during the rental, tell us immediately on +355 68 477 7704.

After an accident you must also report it to the police and obtain a police report.

When you return a damaged car, show the rental agreement, the vehicle inspection form and, after an accident, the police report, so that we can check the insurance cover you chose and the circumstances of the damage. The excess, and SCDW if you took it, apply as described under Insurance, excess and SCDW.

10. Fines

You are responsible for parking tickets and traffic fines received during your rental, including any administrative fees they bring. We can help you with the information you need to pay them.

11. Your personal data

How we handle the details you give us when you book is explained in our privacy policy.

12. Applicable law and changes

These terms are governed by Albanian law.

Nothing in these terms limits the rights you have as a consumer under the law that applies to you.

We may update these terms. The version published here when we confirm your booking applies to that booking.
